Smart Data View – The Boosted Table

Smart Data View or SDV is a boosted table view of the connected data to our platform. Beyond a simple spreadsheet, it contains the most important information about the columns and values of your dataset.

It shows not only the column name, data quality, and type, but the minimum and maximum values, 80th percentile, number of categories, and informative mini-charts as well.

Hovering your mouse over a variable on the left sidebar will give you the same prompt summary of the column in a smaller popup window (this summary is available from each view).

Clicking on the mini-chart in the column header opens a larger view with more suggested visualizations. There you can find different charts of your chosen column values.

Smart Data View features

Customize Your Columns

If you click on the three dots next to the column title, there is a whole range of settings. This gives you the possibility to customize the appearance of your dataset.

Change the name, unit, and description of the column by clicking on Settings, or click right on the column name and type in your own description. Doing so will help you to identify the column later, and your colleagues will appreciate it as well.

The description will be seen in the column summary and on the small summary popup window as well, helping you to always know the meaning of the columns.

Good to Know: If you upload an SPSS file, the app will automatically import your Label and Value fields and add them to the column descriptions. Additionally, if you hover your cursor over your logical field, you will see the description of your Label and Value.

Additionally, you can change the icons at any time. More than 15.000 icons are available, so don’t be afraid to click on the Change icon sign and search for the appropriate one.

Features like Relation map are using the columns’ icons, so it is recommended to change the similar ones to make them look more different.

Tip: Set eye-catching icons for your most important columns to find them quickly and easily.

Get Important Insights

If your aim is to know the distribution of the variables, you can instantly visualize it by clicking on Show distribution. You can even make predictions related to the column values right here, if you click Predict this column. This way you can utilize the decision-making algorithm of AnswerMiner right from the beginning.

It is also possible to see the summarized data of your columns by clicking Column Summary in the top left corner of your datasheet, next to the left sidebar. This way you can receive a wholesome picture or a birds-eye view of your underlying dataset with some important metadata. If you want to customize the shown columns, click on the Columns icon in the top right corner of the screen.

Not only columns can be investigated in Smart Data View, but rows too. If you double-click on a cell, you can also see the summarized content of the whole row on the right side of your screen.

Selective Pinning

If you are working with five or six columns, it is very easy to compare to one another. However, with more than 100 columns, things are getting a bit out of control.

You can easily solve this issue by highlighting only the columns that you want to pay attention to. Click on the column names on the left sidebar. The selected columns will be pinned to the first places on your spreadsheet. If you pin more than three columns, only the picked columns will be visible, and the rest will be hidden.

Tip: You can also hide columns by the Column settings option. It will not just hide, but also exclude the picked columns from all calculations.

On the top of the left sidebar, you will find the Search column bar. Type in the name of the column and select them by clicking on their names. You can give the exact name or just a part of it and the intelligent algorithm will find it.

Filtering with AnswerMiner is just as easy as other things. You can filter your data by clicking on the three dots to add filters, or you can find the plus sign in the top left corner of your screen. If a filter is not needed anymore, you can just pause or delete it.

If you are a fan of keyboard shortcuts, you can even use the Control + Shift + F combination to search categories and use them as filters.

Tip: Set filters and download your filtered spreadsheet in one click.
